As we live life, it seems like it has been forever that we have seen our beloved children. Soon after losing Jenae, I wondered how long it would be before I would see her again. It is hard to believe that it has been over Fourteen years!
Although it has been a long time, I know that after each day, that I am one more day closer to seeing her. What a glorious day that will be! The only reason that this will happen is because Jesus made it possible on the cross to those who follow Him. What a beautiful and glorious reunion it will be to see all of our loved ones we dearly miss, in perfection, and for an eternity.
None of us can fathom exactly what eternal life will be like. For sure eternal life will be WITHOUT everything that is WRONG with this world. Sin brought the fall of man and brought hurt and death into this world. Sin has separated us from God and brought pain. We know there will be no more sin in eternity and therefore no repercussions to suffer through.
Heaven will be full of peace, joy, and love. We will not have war, disease, pain or death. We will no longer have to live with hate, prejudice, selfishness or envy. No more poverty, suffering or fear. Eternity will be like having a thousand pound gorilla off your back; no more pressure. We will experience something so amazing and beautiful that we have never encountered before.
Lastly, remember you are a child of the king. That is our identity, not your accomplishments or beauty. In eternity we will not be a parent who has lost a child. The time we lived without our loved ones will be behind us. This will seem minimal in comparison to the life we have to look forward to in eternity.
Romans 8:18 (NKJV) For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy [to be compared] with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
Know that God loves you and wants to comfort you. His grace and mercy is abundant to those who love Him. He calls us to trust Him and move forward in faith. This leads to joy.
Psalms 126:5-6 (NLT) 5 Those who plant in tears will harvest with shouts of joy. 6 They weep as they go to plant their seed, but they sing as they return with the harvest.
Read the whole Psalm to gain a fuller meaning of this promise. When feeling blue, think of and revisit this; and remember that you too are one day closer to seeing your loved one again…
